En una de los múltiples viajes a Jerusalén del que fue Secretario de Estado americano se le presentó en el hotel un joven economista que le pidió empleo. Sorprendido favorablemente por el candidato, Kissinger le prometió que intentaría conseguirle el de vicepresidente del Banco de Israel. Al día siguiente llamó a París al barón Rotschild para contarle que había conocido a un encantador economista judío que,  vicepresidente en ciernes del Banco de Israel, sería un magnífico partido para su hija.
