For whatever reason, very early on, I developed coping skills much like the ones that everyone uses to read the clip above. This has given me what I feel are two distinct advantages when it comes to learning foreign languages: 1. I find it easier to recognize trans-lingual cognates, by identifying relevant letters and phonemes. It isn't easy to confuse me by spelling a word incorrectly or differently, because it goes into my head as a jumble anyway. 2. I find it easier to understand foreign grammar, because when I read, my understanding of the sentence is not so heavily based on word-order, since that comes to me as gar... |
