I used to live in New Orleans...in Jefferson Parish. I have at one time worked at or "floated" out to supplement/assist every hospital in New Orleans...pre-Katrina, that is.

Several of the hospitals there, solely to aid the poor and impoverished, have been destroyed...completely gone (ie;Charity Hospital).

I think current stats related that only 15% of the Crescent City's hospitals are functioning at 100%. Shame.

The other thing about the "toilet paper" in the schools is real...especially down here in the South (US). There was a time when I used to pack my daughter's lunch, books and toilet paper - for real. I'm glad she's grown...and I hope she doesn't choose to reproduce anytime soon!
