People here in Sweden build little homes in their gardens for trolls and nisser. They're so cute. Nisser can be both sweet or extremely obnoxious, depending. When thing go missing, car keys etc, people usually blame the nisser for stealing them. In Denmark, nisser live in attics or in dens in the woods. Christmas is celebrated by hanging nisser everywhere and people leave food in their attics for them, to keep them from becoming too mischievous. .) Nice comment, TN! It seems you know everything, even a position of child car seat. So in Scandinavia people believe in green dwarfs instead of God? OK, OK, sometimes. It's not so much that they believe in nisser and tomtar, persay. It's more like they're "knocking on wood", so to speak, like some people would never walk under a ladder for fear of... yeah, fear of what?. Pleasing nisser is just something people do, to be on the safe side. After all, you never know. I guess it's about not "tempting fate" or "pushing your luck." But luck itself, is a superstition, isn't it?. One, I think, most, if not all cultures believe in, in one way or another. TN! It seems you know everything, even a position of child car seatCorrection. I know everything, EXCEPT how to position a child's car seat. |
