As I watched Ted Haggard and his wife on Larry King tonight I wondered why he still chooses to refer to his orientation as a "sin." I wonder why he still chooses to use the words "dark thoughts" when referring to his desires for men.
Of course, I never wondered why he married since our society had ZERO support for loving gay male relationships during his generation.
It's hard enough for marriage to work out with societal support much less gay partnerships without any support from society. NEWS FLASH TED, that little voice in your head with those "dark" thoughts ain't going away, and futhermore you is not goin' to hell for your grievous sin of homosexuality. What really bugs the shit out of me is that Mr. Haggard is only reinforcing homophobia by his attempts to stigmatize homosexual behavior even further by labeling it a "sin."
And that TED, is the sin.

Yeah, so he asks to be forgiven for his "sins" and gets back into heaven.

But, I ask, will his blatant use of God, and utter lack of being sorry for using God for his own personal gain block his passage.

I couldn't believe when I saw a quote from him run on the ticker at Headline News today.

Hypocrisy and idiocy make me tired.

Just the assumption that he's going to heaven (just because apparently) could get him thrown into the fire. Ya never know... ya never know.

As maddening as I find his actions (on the level of do as I say don't do as I do) ultimately it is both sad and pathetic.

I understand Mr. Haggard only too well. He needs the love of a man just like I need the love of a woman. He can't pray that away, but more importantly why would he wish to?

"I wanted every kind of love that was available, but I could never find them in the same person, or the same sex." - Cole Porter
Homosexuality is no threat to society and it is never up to us to question God's love for us. When are we, as a compassionate society, going to embrace our differences instead of viewing them as inherently evil? Only a fool would view homosexuality as about sex, and only a fool would use and abuse his power as a minister to exploit the weaknesses in others to fu...

I think I understand Mr Haggard in a different way. There are over 25 translations into English of the Bible. He chooses to interpret Paul's understanding of God's truth in verse 1 Corinthians 6:9-10. A man, not a god, wrote it based on his beliefs and understanding at the time. Yet Haggard is convinced it is "God' truth." That is simple narrowmindedness. I still submit that just as the church apologized for making Darwin wrong 130 years late, they will one day have to apologize for taking Paul's words said some 2000 years ago, twisting them through English translation, and making them truth to millions of people who would then judge others, and to millions of others who only want to be loved.

This guy is a real piece of work. He's such a perfect caricature of idiocy. Did y'all see 'Jesus Camp?' --The documentary about the born-again child brain washing schools? Ted makes a beautiful appearance in the film--before he gets 'busted.' I think the film was released to video right about the time he was 'exposed.' It was perfect.

I am not surprised that Mr. Haggard continues to label
homosexuality as a sin. This is most convenient to his
theology and mindset. If he changed these ideas, who
really would listen to him or pay him to talk about his
lifestyle.
I believe that God loves us as we are........I do not believe that our sexual orientation grants us or
denies us the approval of God. The purpose of our
lives is not about gender or sexual preference, but
about how we treat others and how we use our time,
resources, and talents. God is love. God is not male or female. Somehow I think this sexual orientation stuff is really not of such grave consequence.

Exercise or Die
I remember a psychologist once telling me that human nature is ``essentially bisexual` and explained how there was nothing really wrong with it. It`s practiced in nature as well and as long as no one gets hurt, who cares if you have sex, any style?

I think we`re all so worked-up about definitions and morals (those social norms we define our selves when he mood strikes) that we forget what the real message of Jesus`s testament was: Love. I don`t remember him specifying the genders or the numbers but I do remember it was very human. The people who call homosexuality the "gateway activity to bestiality" are so off the mark. Most of my straight friends are into that: gay people don't bonk their...
