What ticks me off about food prices is that we were warned this would happen if we started producing food for fuel. Everyone had to buy into the global warming BS.

If we are going to continue using etahnol for fuel, we should be buying it from countries that produce large amounts of sugar crops like sugarcane. It would help these other countries without us giving them handouts, help drop the cost of ethanol and allow us to produce more food staples.

Take Brazil, we need to drop the .54 cent a gallon import tax on ethanol and instead allow them to convert some of their excess grazing land into farm land. They already have extra ethanol producing capacity. They just need a market for the product. A market we are not letting them have by placing a .54 cent a gallon tax on their ethanol. Instead we keep corn prices proped up.

Buy the way, sugar cane ...

Of course, then, everyone will start growing sugar cane instead of corn and we still have the same problem.
