How can words like "Bubba the Love Sponge", "Mary", "loin" or "fish" imply a possible threat to national security?!? If you've ever used any of the words on the list in an email or chat, supposedly chances are your email has been snooped on by the government. I see "&" and "site" are also buzzwords. Would there be anything they DIDN'T read?!?
Sheesh, gimme a break!

This is also an echelon list, which means that phone conversations that included these words may have been monitored.

wow, "the football" and "cocaine" are on the list. Can you imagine how many phone calls they have to sift through with just those two?

They've got huge computers to filter out and find the words they're looking for and then check up on parallel hits afterwards manually, if they deem it nesessary. Ever wonder how they catch criminals and terrorists when you hear it on the news. They talk about "increased chatter"?This is how they do it.

That's fine when it's about catching terrorists before they do harm, but according to MCA, peaceful protesters could very well be targetted in the exact same way.....

But none so far? Such a fine line. You can't have equal security and freedom at the same time. When one takes, the other gives.

I have no idea how the MCA is going to used and implemented now, or in the future, but I'm sure not trusting that the use will be for anything other than that we've already seen, like torture and detentions and so on. No holding back there on those issues and the MCA specifically mentions peaceful protesters too, so I am being the devil's advocate here and thinking that no way can the MCA be good news at all. AT ALL!!

Imagine copying and pasting all these words into an e-mail to someone.

I have actually done that. In several different languages too. Can't have the NSA and DoD getting bored, now can I? Don't send those sort of emails to folks with only cabel though.... chuckle chuckle

Before that I also write "Hi Guys? How's the spy game these days? Or some other lame comment to let them know, that I know, that they know, what I'm writing and so on...

I know, a childish gesture perhaps, but I get so provoked by all this surveillance and the oppressive, fascist invasion of my privacy.
