ratilfar says: Interesting. I am not switching to Vista on this machine, that will wait until my next PC. I got so excited when I saw the headline, then I read the article. It doesn't apply to Vista Basic in home computers. I hate Vista! My first computer was preprogrammed with XP and I was not given a disc. I'll stick with dual boot XP/Ubuntu. No Vista here. No one should ever be a first adopter when Microsoft introduces a new operating system. Windows, 2.x, 3.x, 95.x, 98.x, XP(if you don't have service pack 2, you don't have a operating system). I am very happy to see the open source and Creative Commons crowd reaching critical mass. True, but the people who bought new computers with the Vista bundle are stuck with it. Yes, and they will have to decide if their time would be better spent fighting Vista or learning some open source system like Linux. At first, it might seem more difficult, but it depends on how many problems you have with Vista. I do really feel badly for people who aren't aware of these issues and don't investigate before they purchase. Why the crap would anyone want this? Vista is awesome and the only thing that hasn't worked on it for me is some free guitar hero like game that I wouldn't have time to play anyways. Compared to the advantages of vista, there's no reason to downgrade to XP, unless you believe all the rumors about Vista and are too lazy to try Vista for yourself. Retraining for once, and switching software packages. I don't massive software migrations, and let me tell you, throwing an new OS into the mix is not pretty. |
