jay8h. Our health system in Australia is the same as in Canada - and every other industrialised nation - except the US. We call it universal health coverage..not socialised medicine. That label is being imposed by the profit mongering private sector who are trying to scare people because they are worried about losing their obscene profits.

Your education system is funded by the public sector and it's not called it "socialist"..so why label a proposed taxpayer funded health care system, which will benefit all citizens, as "socialist"??

The Proposed US healthcare will not be the same in practice.

Under such "universal healthcare" people do in fact die, most often while waiting on infinitely long waiting lists for care they required immediately.

It is not uncommon for people with open head wounds to be kept waiting in Accident and Emergency or for medication to be withheld due to overspending in the budget.

My advice is to be your own physician as much as possible learn natural remedies, become aware of your own health and well being and what affects it. 90% of the time when people go to a doctor it is for menial stuff that they could have sorted out themselves or would have just run its course eg colds, flu, food poisoni...
