blueridge says:
How to Pass Unpopular Legislation 101: Attach them to Defense Spending. This is how Bush administration got through REAL ID. This is contrary to the purpose of Congress which should read and debate ONE BILL AT A TIME, instead of this fraudulent manipulation through "must pass" Defense bills.

As for the bill itself, while a woman could slap a man for being too forward in a bar now normal men cannot do the same to a pressing homosexual who might "hit on them" without being charged with a new Federal "Hate Crime".
Some are just "more equal than others" now and have Special Protection of the Federal government ABOVE all other U.S. citizens.

OH BULL.

on them" without being charged with a new Federal "Hate Crime".
Oh good grief Blueridge, what kind of bars are you frequenting?? That is the most twisted kind of argument I've ever seen and it really is perpetuating fear against homosexuals.

I mean, most straight women go to bars, or restaurants or work and get unwelcome advances by men all the time. You say no thank you.

The hypothetical situation (all it was intended to be) could easily happen and is not an irrational scenario. The new law is bull and unnecessary. The same way some cry "abuse" or "racism" can be used as a means of defending the provocateur's own actions that bring trouble on themselves.

That there is a greater protection than average citizens now is without question, and therefore unequal.

I just don't understand your logic and why this legislation seems to bother you so much. The bill was needed. Hate that manifests itself in violent action, particularly against groups of people should always be opposed.

1. This is hypocrisy and pretense. There is no such thing as a love crime. Laws are on the books that prosecute all violent crimes, against anyone, already now. This pretense goes much further and is dangerous...and is a mere stepping stone in a larger process that authorizes social revolution to trample and persecute historic public mores and moral judgments, and everyone knows it. Is the purpose then to prosecute "hate"? No.

The "hate" of some others is manifest, but not converted into a crime, a gross hypocrisy that sees the "speck" in another's eye ...

I'm concerned if you have ever felt hated by me regarding your particular interpretation of Christianity. I certainly hope not.
