On the World News last night was the story of Lance Corporal Greene of Massachusetts (outside Boston) and the sacrifices Families have to make in times of great conflict. He and his wife were expecting a baby...and going to the birthing classes together when he got deployed.
They set up a laptop so he could be there for the birth and coach his wife via satellite from 7,000 miles away in Iraq! They had a healthy baby girl! It was odd because there was a slight delay, however, he was at least able to "be there"...and his lovely wife is grateful saying it made all the difference in the world.

Is it safe or wise to send a lactating Mother, still swimming with postpartum hormones and separation anxiety back into combat?

I had to go back to work when my daughter was eight months old. It was the worst thing I ever did. I cried every day even though the separation was only for a few hours. I can't even imagine leaving my newborn with "Family" or "Friends" and have to go back overseas.
