If these four years deliver, all the indignance about offense to conservatism's silly abstractions will be completely irrelevant. The day of ideologically-driven polemic is past; this is the day of practical effectiveness, and the next election will be even moreso. Repubs will go off in a corner and moan about small government, Roe, terrorist boogeymen, and impending socialism, and even more won't care than didn't care this time. Those days are dead! @masbury I'm afraid I don't completely share your optimism. After 8 years in power I don't think they will go quietly into the night. I hope I'm wrong. Like the commment that its not what the right thinks but what the public thinks... The right does NOT represent the public and the public is finally awakening to that. We need to keep the awakening process alive and growing. While it's encourageing to see such optimism we still must be aware that the Right, after so long in power, will not just lay down and and give up the reigns of power so easily. Now is not the time to relax but to press forward with programs and legislation that actually benefits people rather than corporations. Trickle down economics only makes sense if viewed for what it is. Just as the Right cynically used the Rabid Right Christians to buy elections, the same block promised everyone would get their fair share of corporate profits, their largess would trickle down to the masses.
