I'm researching Appalachia because I've got notes for a whole bunch of my dark Santa Claus stories that take place in the land of the Belsnickel.

And I'd be mortified if I got to "The End" and had written some unseelie myth version of "Beverly Hillbillies Christmas Special".

I have a lot of researching to do.

For sale. When you spot fool sang, ginseng is sure to follow. Also rattleweed, sang pointers, nettles and yellowroot, snakeroot, and bloodroot (ever see it; it's interesting) are another sure indicator.
Ginseng likes deep dark hollows with heavy foliage where it's really dark. You just have to have the right conditions and go to areas where people don't frequent too much.
