Some childrens' 'nursery rhymes' derived from historical events. Blessing someone when they cough. Do asinine expressions count? "Free gift" really gets to me. What other kind is there? The reemergence of "bastard" to describe children born out of wedlock is troubling. I heard it used this afternoon on a popular American soap opera. Only an immature society would find it socially acceptable to heap such vitriol on children. |
