ColoradoRight says: maybe he just dropped a contact or something? He's probably apologizing for being tall and blaming it on the US. Not to the majority of Americans who hate the health care bill, terrorists tried in the US, the monstrous debt he's shoveling onto us, or his handling of the Afghan war. The only ones he won't bow to, serve, or honor, are the American people. Bowing is sign of respect in Japanese and Korean cultures. Deference is shown by getting on one's knees. He did flub up with the handshake, though. One's hands should be at their side. True Americans don't bow to anybody - and especially the head of state. Well, unless you want to go back to being a peasant with "lords" and such - which come to think of it is exactly what Oprompter and his bunch want to change America into. To bow in Japanese culture is equivalent to the handshake in American culture. When I lived in Europe, I greeted people (and was greeted) with a kiss on the cheek, though it was at first strange for a typical American who believes in a much wider sphere of personal space. I used the formal "you" when speaking to strangers, elders, or authority figures, as opposed to the familiar "you", though I prefer the egalitarianism of English. I was, however, on their turf. When in Rome, do as the Romans, no? There are photos of Bush holding hands and kissing Saudi male royalty on the lips. It may be strange to our eyes, but it is commensurate with Saudi culture. Cultural literacy demonstrates respect, not weakness. So our novice President is the only one who showed 'respect' in the series of pictures? All the other heads of state did not? Hmmm..... — Comment removed by clipper — I guess the whole bowing and scraping by a US President thing really gets under the liberals skin. Why? Isn't America responsible for every single horrible thing in the world. Should the US President be crawling on his belly in front of the whole world? Bowing in submission is only a start. Of course all those dead Americans who fought in the Pacific in WWII might think it a little strange that "one of their own" is bowing to the grandson of Hirohito I guess I don't understand who "heads of state" are. I considered all those who came...were. — Comment removed by clipper — — Comment removed by clipper — really - this bowing thing has gotten under the nutroots skin. Like I said - wouldn't you rather that he crawled? — Comment removed by clipper — Never thought I would see the day where someone was trying to defend Obama by comparing him to Bush and Nixon.... I have seen the Nixon bow. It was nothing like the Obama bow and it was mutual instead of one sided. — Comment removed by clipper — — Comment removed by clipper — Just block me, Colorado, if you don't like what I have to say. |
