This is included in Newcastle's Museum of Antiquities' display on Zoroastrianism during the Roman occupation at Hadrian's Wall (Newcastle, UK, is at the Eastern end of the wall). Many of the soldiers were Persian and middle eastern (as opposed to Roman). After the Roman withdrawal it is believed that many of these Zoroastrians settled in the Lune Value, north west England. Zoroastrianism/Vedism seems like a key component in the change from ancient animism/paganism (pre-1500 b.c.e) to monotheistic/one-source religions. |
