".....if the mothers ruled the world there would be no goddamn wars in the first place.”

If she could have stopped before she got there everyone would have been delighted. Having said that, she can say whatever she wants as an actress, a mother and an American. But personally, I'm weary of Hollywood, because of their easy access of their celebrity, getting to communicate their ideas and opinions as though theirs are more profound than any one elses. I never watch any of these things because they have become a podium for personal politics.

And her statement is pretty naive considering that it's never going to happen and it's a badge of honor within the Palestinian community to birth and ...

And you jatfla are no mother. And you don't support
freedom of speech.Even though that used to be an
American freedom. And celebrities happen to be people
who got where they are by working hard to get there.
Unlike some politicians who think they have the right
to shut anyone up, that doesn't go along with their
ideas.Communicating ideas is not a bad thing. Restricting ideas is Fascist or communist. Which one are you?

I notice I cant post any comments on your clips. I
guess that proves you don't want to hear what anyone
else but your chosen flock have to say. Welcome to the Nazi party.

Too bad you cant get that same control on someone
else's clip.

LOL! Anyone who says that mothers = no violence is seriously delusional. Women as just as capable of inciting war as men.

cp...as far as I know, I've only blocked *myself* from viewing one person's comments. I'm becoming fairly computer literate but I'll check.

I am most definitely a mother with a husband and son who served in the US military. If you'd read my comments before going ballistic, you would see that I freely acknowledged her *right* to say what she did. As an actress, I've watched her since "Gidgit"; I just don't agree with her opinion that mother-leadership would mean an end of war. debbyski and I have been able to amiably disagree on each others clips and comments; I don't think she minds. Don't want to be a 'mother' that starts a war here. :~)

While women are not only capable of inciting war I think some particular woman might be even more brutal than some particular man. Never underestimate the potential of any human being.

Pop for Cpt.'s comment, particularly the point about the chickenshits who ban a Clipper's commentary out of fear of ideas and opposition.

Pop for Sally Fields having the courage to speak of love rather than hate in society in which hate and envy and greed are the powers of motive force for so many. Gidget censored? Who could have ever imagined?

"...chickenshits who ban a Clipper's commentary".

The person was cruel, hate-filled and obscene. They loved to plaster *my clips* with their ugly remarks. I'm completely open to differing opinions and ideas. I am surprised by those who espouse "love" and "tolerance" because many seem to have difficulty sharing that with those with whom they disagree.

I believe that I said that I would *see* if anyone had been blocked from posting on my clips. I wasn't aware that that was possible; only that I could prevent them from showing up for my own personal viewing. A message showed up something like this: "you have chosen to hide_________ remarks".

I've always found Jatfla to be someone who I have learned from by stating her own perspective. I hope I have earned her respect on how to amicably disagree. I try to present a well reasoned argument on my clips and welcome different opinions. I'm sure she doesn't agree with my "lifestyle" but to her credit, she has never mentioned it, not once.
I think if I knew Jatfla "in real life", we would disagree on most likely everything. but still be able to be friends.
Wiccatexan brings up an excellent question. Are women just as capable at inciting war? Ha, I know right before my period I sure as hell am.

Am I the only one who thinks this is overblown? I don't think they censored her comment because it mentioned the war. I think they censored her comment because she said a word that is on TVs Standards and Practices list of words you can't say on public tv.

If people feel like that is censorship then the fight is against S&P. That is why there is a time delay on live tv. Otherwise Fox gets to pay a nice big fine for what Sally said because they aired it.

Would this be as big of a deal if she had used the word while talking about Piven?

I really have nothing to say about Sally's comments except that it's our right as Americans. Sure, she could have cleaned up her language and acted like a lady, but that's Hollywierd.

As to the comment about women, how many women are in jail for murder compared to men? Likewise, throughout history, how many mass murderers have been female compared to men?

The number doesn't matter. It's the idea that women are automatically peace-loving and would never incite war in a leadership position that is ludicrious.

If Hilllary Clinton is elected, I assure you she'd likely have to face that decision. How do you think she'd go?

Interesting list Jatfla -

Catherine the Great
Cleopatra
Elizabeth I
Cath sex very often
Cleo sex with brother
Liz1 virgin, sex with ???

My list of powerful ladies was very mundane compared with Jatfla's list. Freud might have something to say about her choices. Ha ha.

We are talking about FOX network here. they are pro-war in their journalism.
I think most mothers don't want to "be the first one on their block, to have their boy come home in a box".

The fun part and the challenging part of clipmarks, and indeed the world, is when you can stand still and listen to someone who doesn't think what you think, say what they think, and walk away enlightened. What that enlightenment is, is up to you.
The sad part of this world is when we are too afraid to really hear what an opposing viewpoint is.... that some how listening to another will poison us. If we are so certain in our belief system, we can allow others their voice to participate in this delightful forum and perhaps grow. I am thankful for all those who participate in clipmarks, no matter if I agree with them or not. Thanks jatfla for your post.

I didn't see the show, but I am old enough to remember Sasheen Little Feather's performance on behalf of Marlon Brando at the Oscars a "few" years ago. That startled and annoyed a few people and started a trend. Those who run the networks and the awards shows have made a point of trying to nip any further political speeches in the bud both for time constraints and for fear of offending anyone and everyone. Celebrities are entitled to express their views, but doing so in front of a captive audience expecting something entirely different from the show is bound to ruffle a few feathers. (Sorry, Sasheen!)
As for the idea that a world run by women would see fewer wars, that I must agree wit...

Aren't we talking about EDITING here?
How 'bout the notion that the 1st Amendment being more applicable to FOX's freedom to air what they want to? Nobody restricted what she could say did they? No. This was not a NEWS coverage, was it? No.Was there supposed to be a presumption that an entertainment awards special give equal coverage to the "stars'" political rants? No. Had FOX or any other network airing entertainment, been required to air portions they felt would cause viewers to turn OFF, then THAT WOULD BE CENSORSHIP.

Someone is 'offended' by the use of goddamn. Goddamn, why? In the context of saving a life, a leg, or a child then goddamn is pretty low down on any list that I'd have. It's not a word I'd use as I'm not at all sure as to its meaning or status.

In the context of the use/misuse of english to lie, be deceptive, racist, bully, and all the rest, well a little goddamn is particularly persnickety, priggish, snobbish, pretentious, petty bourgeoisie. Clearer?
