I'm a big fan of fiction, but I think your time would be better spent watching the extended LOTR trilogy.

But if you want to watch a really good documentary, try watching Obsession. It is the movie that radical Islam doesn't want you to see.

Lemme add a plug for The Fog of War. It's really good. For anyone who doesn't know, it's Errol Morris using his famous "interview box" (or whatever he calls it) with Robert McNamara -- an extended reflection on our mistakes in Vietnam. Not to mention Morris's other documentary masterpiece, Thin Blue Line. Both, incidentally, have Phillip Glass scores.

Another movie that's not radical enough to be on this list, but which many people here might like, is Control Room, a documentary on al-Jazeera. (One of the amusing moments in the movie is when you see alternating clips of Donald Rumsfeld co...
