I personally do not have any problem with this limit and even think that this is one of main advantages of using clipmarks.com providing access to more brief quality contents.

I find the 1,000 Ok, most of the time anyway. It means that you read the original for the essence of the article.

If I'm over and post 'Private' can I blog it then or am I doing something wrong?

Hi righthand. If you want to blog a clip, it must be under 1,000 characters.

i like the word limit for that very reason. it prevents regurgitation of items that go on at length about a certain topic and allows us to focus on the essence. i think of it as a way to make other people's mouth water - like an appetiser. if the appetiser is too full-on, you won't have space to enjoy the main course.

I'm ok with the world limit for a couple of reasons - 1. It forces people to think rather than blindly clipping every random thing, 2. Legal Reasons. I can see everyone crying and saying "OMG!!!!TEH CLIPMARKS STEALS MY BLOG POSTS ABOUT CATS" (No offence thisnamecantbetaken).

However 1000 is sometimes too little to convey some thoughts about a particular cause or ideal. Back at 2000, I actually wanted it to be 2500.

Calling what is done at Clipmarks stealing is small minded and silly.
Your precious content is being duplicated in another location with full credit and links. How is that theft? I have discovered, and visit regularly, sites that I might never have otherwise found because of content found at Clipmarks.
You’re essentially getting free advertising and you’re talking about theft. Unbelievable.
Probably one of the few times I've agreed with our Godfrey Daniel.

Rest of the comments were mostly idiotic!

Haha! No offence taken Sohil! None whatsoever. .

I don't quite get the whole "stealing" mentality either. I thought the whole idea of blogs and websites was that they would WANT to be cross-linked, referenced and quoted as many places around the web as they can. Isn't the whole idea, that they would like more visitors? If I had a blog or website (which I don't) I would feel proud to have something clipped and to know someone found it "clipworthy". How could being clipped in any way be detrimental to the number of readers I potentially would have/attract? Dunno. I'm willing to put up with any clip limit though, as long as we still have the comment section to f.ex. explain why I clipped som...
