Why do we find farting so funny.

I was in hospital for a week recently. Across from me was a man who farted virtually continuously. It was low key but more on than off. He gave up trying to disguise his embarrassment. They were checking out his colon etc but could find nothing wrong.

He was farting when I got there and when I left. I'd be worried about his methaine gas emissions. Cows would not have been in it with him, poor man
