That "electronic notepad" was just a clipboard with a couple of fake lights. If you look, you'll see that he's still signing a piece of paper. It wasn't until TNG that they had electronic PADDs.

Automatic doors also existed before 1966 - you just had to step on a pressure mat to open it. What I could never figure out is how Kirk and Spock could stand in front of a closed door having a conversation, then having the door conveniently open as soon as they were through talking and not before.

We've seen so many changes in our lifetime. Perhaps more than any generation before us. It's been a great time to be alive.
