masbury says:
On April 7, the Dept of Homeland Security issued a report warning of the dangers of rightwing extremism. Some Republicans demanded apologies. And then the right-wing killers began shooting. The DHS was spot-on.

The right has always been like that.

Violence is their calling card.

These are hardly the only examples of right-wing extremists striking in the US. Some clueless rightwing nutbars try to claim that there are no examples of right-wing extremism and plenty of left wing, but when you take advantage of the Freedom of Information Act, you find there are relatively few left-wing extremist attacks, and many dozens of right-wing extremist attacks across the US.

The Right-Wing, Corporate Media just covers up most of the right-wing lunatics (or elects them to government).

So, it is only the "right wing" extremist" who kill? What about Stalin, Alyaksandr Lukashenka of Belarus, Castro, Chavez, Mugabe, etc., all "left wingers' who killed millions?

The DHS report was about violent American citizens posing a threat to other American citizens, and how they tend to fall on the far right wingnut fringe of the American political spectrum.

I was not in the least bit about authoritarian dictators abusing their populations.

Your position is a complete straw man and an attempt to sidetrack the discussion.

Would you like to come back to the actual issue at hand?

More specifically, the report says: The DHS/Office of Intelligence and Analysis (I&A) has no specific
information that domestic rightwing* terrorists are currently planning acts of violence,
but rightwing extremists may be gaining new recruits by playing on their fears about
several emergent issues. The economic downturn and the election of the first
African American president present unique drivers for rightwing radicalization and
recruitment.

The DHS report is about foreign straw man as Spiritual so ably pointed it out but it may cover this:

The trio (off Minutemen) are alleged to have dressed as law enforcement officers and forced their way into a rural Arivaca home on May 30, wounding a woman and fatally shooting her husband and their 9-year-old daughter.

The topic, Jay, is the status of a current security threat in the USA. No conclusion of any sort was in my mind about any other place or era.

Also, jay; Chavez hasn't killed anyone. That's not just a strawman, it's a red herring.

A great deal of the right-wing politicos' ire seems to be the mention of veterans...they're forgetting that Timothy McVeigh and Terry Nichols were vets.

Oh, shock and dismay! The US condition their soldiers to murder people, and then acts surprised when former soldiers actually go out to ply their trade and kill someone.

The fact that the US doesn't bother to deprogram their soldiers after they retire is criminal irresponsibility.
