I've seen astronomical mistakes like this in many other movies too, specially movies with vampires and werewolfs when the moon plays a significant part in the plot. I think in Ford Coppola's "DRACULA" too, the Moon from the face of one quarter (half) "runs" within a day in the face of Full Moon (7 days later) :--D

Going back to Apocalypto, In the scene at the huge waterfall when Jaquar Paw was escaping from the natives after running thru the headless dead bodies, there is a huge white yacht in the background. It can be seen quite plainly four times before and after he jumps into the waterfall.

Yet, Mel Gibson show us the same night a brilliant full Moon, a phenomenon that happens when Earth is between the Sun and the Moon!!!
