Crazy as it sounds, the first time I had ever heard a Beatles song was in May of 1989 at a high school dance. 'Hey Jude' - I'll never forget asking someone who was singing this awesome song! How bad is that?

Thank you alanocu for sharing this -- brings back so many memories.
My son once said to me, "Ma you are so lucky to have been alive when the Beatles were together". He loved them so much. When John died he was devastated. One day when the time feels right I will scatter his ashes in Strawberry fields.

When you say you first heard a Beatles song in 1989, do you mean a song by the Beatles as a group? You heard songs by Paul McCartney & Wings? And John Lennon? and George Harrison (Concert for Bangladesh)?

I kind of had a weird childhood. My mother didn't let us listen to Rock or Pop music....so she pretty much sheltered us from that aspect of pop culture until I was old enough to rebel . When I started driving at 16 and my friends had cars, my discovery of this whole new world began.

Even though these Beatles songs are from a long time ago, many of them are relatively new (in a sense) to me! I have been fascinated with the Beatles lately. The first time I heard 'Hey Jude' was a momentous event! I can almost pinpoint to the exact day I heard it and can remember the faces of the people around me sharing the moment!

I remember hearing Paul McCartney and Michael Jackson's...

Not that long ago.

Thanks for the clip alanocu. I love the Beatles !!! They are the one group (or music) that never gets old to me. If you listen to the entire library of Beatles songs it is hard to imagine how a group could evolve through such varied styles and songs in such a short time and make each song so unique. The Beatles will be loved forever. I recently watched a Paul McCartney concert on YouTube and was amazed by the shots of the crowd. The number of people younger than myself really speaks to the staying power and influence of the Beatles.

Thanks Alancou for a great clip. Their music has the "timeless" quality about it.
