thisnamecantbetaken says: I had visions of Guantanamo in my head, and I became almost dizzy with the adrenaline rush of fear. I thought that I must have been mistaken for someone else, God knows who, and there would be no chance to clear my name.I can't begin to imagine the fear. As a non-American I can only say, I also fear travelling to or through the U.S. The story of the Islandic woman's ordeals doesn't help either. Does anyone else feel apprehensive these days travelling to the U.S, or I am the only one? You are not the only one I'd love to travel to the Americas, not just to meet some of the great American people I meet in the UK and France on their own soil, but to see how this culture I learn through films and TV operates. I also dream to meet the American natives and see the beauty of the cities and the landscapes. But I am also too scared right now, after hearing the stories of friends. One day I hope, I will make it there and get to drive at night across the desert... That was a long, but good read. |
