I wouldn't be here, if Russia didn't die in 1917. I accepted it, Solzhenitsyn -- not. Watch how Kremlin will drive this pre-Imperial Russia (Moscovia of the Times of the Ivan the Terrible) herself and the world crazy. Most recent example -- Georgia. I wish you could speak to those in this country on the left who still see the former Soviets and the new Russia as something to emulate. I suspect they are so used to blaming their country first that they won't even support her allies. i.e the left's support of Palestine over Israel. I did : in 1986 (!) I had public lectures on the East Coast, comparing American and Soviet Constitutions. I didn't want to be a part of war between left and right, because there is more import war to fight -- between right and wrong. I understand you wanting top stay above the partisans politics but it really does have to do with right and wrong. The American left doesn't believe in black and white. They celebrate at the altar of diversity and moral equivalence. They support Palestine, they support Castro, they support Chavez and they are apologists for the Russians. They are against punishment in the American legal system. They are for allowing punishing and ostracizing Christians but are willing to overlook their church/state objections in order to accommodate Muslims. In short they will not draw a line between right and wrong. In 1988 I sued US government for my right to vote -- and I won, but voted for Libertarian Party, which had no chance then or now. I hope you understand that this Russian proverb about Fool is very much about eight years of Bush, who did WRONG to conservatives in USA for generations to come.
