I believe in time,

matter, and energy,

which make up the whole of the world.
Why?

I believe in reason, evidence and the human mind,
the only tools we have
OK.. Do you define reason? Or does 2+2=4 by some other means?

they are the product of natural forces
I love natural forces. Newton's laws of motion come to mind.

I have learnt during my time at clipmarks that engaging in "debate" with you would be a frustrating waste of time. So I'm not going to.

But as your comment is in the second person ( I'm the clipper not the author remember) why don't you take your comment to the author's blog. I can guarantee you'll get a debate over there.

BTW do you really not see the difference between rejoicing and showing gratitude?

I do not "debate", JW. No one at Clipmarks debates. The only reason you feel the way you do is because you disagree with me. I am sure you see things differently in those with whom you find agreement.
That aside, I was just pointing out the irony of the words in your clip and I made very clear the line in rejoicing and gratitude in my reference. It is impossible to rejoice without gratitude. It implies a thanksgiving of sorts. But we split hairs. Perhaps you should join in more exchanges with me. I don't bite.

Interesting clip by the way. I find in it more of an expression of hope than one of futility. That in itself seems to be an expression and acknowledgement of an objective reality.
