More Bovine Scatology !! There is no population crisis and there NEVER will be a population crisis. I do not believe in utopias, but if we could remove everyone that commits violence, lies, or engages in alarmism we would be well on our way. I know it's a sad thing to say, and cruel, but starvation is Nature's way of controlling a population that is too stupid to control itself. People starve because of corrupt governments, socialist policies, and the United Nations - not population. Socialist policies and the U.N.? Willhelm, I must admit, this was the most unbelievably absurd statement I have ever heard. Why? Popped for willhelm's commonsense. The same alarms were raised when the population reached 4 billion...then 5 billion...then 6 billion. As to starvation being nature's curb, why make folk suffer? Let's just accept Swift's "Modest Proposal." You do realize that Swift was making a point against allowing people to starve, not the other way around. As for Wilhelm, its absurd because it is not true. the U.N. spends a lot of effort feeding people, people affected by famine, war and civil unrest. So if they do that, how can they be helping people to starve. Ever heard of UNICEF? Thanks Ratilfar. I'm glad the UN fixed that problem. You do realize that Swift was making a point against allowing people to starve, not the other way around.Um....yeah....was my tongue not far enough into my cheek? Was I the only one to notice the heartlessness of the comment to which this was directed? So if they do that, how can they be helping people to starve.Perhaps by merely giving already starving people a tiny bit of food while at the same time perpetuating the situations that lead to such starvation. "Clients" are generated faster than they are served. Perpetuating how? Considering how little power the UN has over the internal governance of nations even failed nations plus the lack of cooperation from members states. They are trying but they are woefully under armed for this. The main guy from Green Peace was on the radio the other day... an interesting fellow... he advocated for elimination of 90% of population, which was quite startling to hear. His approach isn't in extermination though, he thinks that simply letting only people who want to and can do a decent job in raising them - have children. That way the society would be much better off because kids would grow up in normal households and thus be (in theory) on the ball and there won't be any losers, being such due to horrible upbringing by inept parents. The concept, although about as improbable as can be, certainly was intriguing to entertain. Now all of you selfish people who think kids are nothing but nuissance can rejoice. Of course the 'crisis' is very much debatable. American caucasion population isn't growing, Russia has had declining population for years, just to name a few. Now if the muslims just stop multiplying like rabbits, maybe this crisis won't be one after all and at the same time it'll diminish or eliminate the terror problems as well... Invictus, Why? Wilhelm - I agree. If economics were such an issue, how could it be that "99% of that growth is in the world's poorest countries?" The problem is not growth rates or gross national products.
