Those priests hey, putting their little peckers where they don't belong. I wonder how many innocent children they've infected?

AIDs was toted by many as "God's punishment" for homosexual behavior. I wonder what the church will say now? Talk about the Harlot sitting on a mound of wealth.

I think that allowing priests, all clergy really, including Nuns, to marry and have normal sex lives would solve a lot of society's problems. Starting with sex education (meaning education about sex). "Don't do it" doesn't qualify as an eduction about sex.

But this church is so adamant that all sex is evil, outside of marriage (and only marriage if you must -- ref. to Paul) that these antiquated beliefs cause their own problems. But then, Paul didn't think much of women, either, and thought the world was soon coming to an end.

Oh, well.

Roman Catholic priests in the United States are dying from Aids at least four times as fast as the general population, largely as a result of homosexual contact
It is not surprising since these rates mirror those in the homosexual community. It is homosexual promiscuity not celibacy (duh) that is to blame here.

And a reversal of the rule of celibacy would not solve any societal problems. There is no evidence that celibacy is related to homosexuality, or child abuse for that matter. It is just your usual anti-Cath...

Yeah, no one's disagreeing with that.

There is no evidence that celibacy is related to homosexuality, or child abuse for that matter. It is just your usual anti-Catholic rhetoric once again.
Did someone say that it was? Celibacy is, however, related to being extremely horny. Try it.

And so, if these horny priests had wives, they probably wouldn't seek sex elsewhere. (Duh.) But since they clearly do...

What would solve many of societies problems, is a commitment to abstinence outside of marriage and faithfulness to that marriage. It may be an "antiquated" world view, but it really ...

I think some go into the priesthood because they are homosexual, they feel it is a sin, and they want a life of celibacy and the order of a religious life.
Then they find out it just doesn't work for a lot of these men. I feel education is the key and the church expects too much from these men and women. I think everyone needs the physical intimacy of being loved by another human being.

I don't know about you but no sane heterosexual man would resort to homosexual and minor abuse, celibate or not. The problem here is not celibacy itself but rather priests with homosexual inclinations who act upon them.

As far as abstinence??? It hasn't worked in secular society, nor is it working in the priesthood.
Common sense tells you, therefore, it simply doesn't work.
Yes it does. Contrary what you and the secular media wants us to think: http://www.heritage.org/Research/Abstinence/BG1...

Efrain,
It bothers me how you seem to link homosexuality with pedophilia.
And it's also bothersome how you link sane with heterosexuality and imply that insane is homosexuality.

Yo E?

The Heritage Foundation?

The foundation took a leading role in the conservative movement during the presidency of Ronald Reagan, whose policies drew significantly from Heritage's policy study Mandate for Leadership.[1] Heritage has since continued to have a significant influence in U.S. public policy making, and is widely considered to be one of the most influential research organizations in the United States, especially during the Republican administration of President George W. Bush.[2]

Heritage Foundation has actively pushed for privatization, deregulation, cuts in social spending, and pre-emptive military strikes. It played a key role in the march to war against Iraq.

It is bothersome, but it's true. 80-90% of child abuse cases concerning the priesthood, are cases of hebephilia.

I did not state that people with homosexual attractions are insane. I did state that a sane heterosexual male would not resort to homosexuality or child abuse no matter the circumstance.

Didn't you read the footnotes? The information came from the Heritage Foundation.

Sex, sadness and suicide, Heritage Fdn., 3Jun03;

Besides, if you read the "About Us" information it clearly states their agenda, which is anti-abortion, abstinence-only, against stem-cell research, etc..

Find a peer reviewed science journal or stop pretending its science. Please. Note; real science does not have an agenda but to discover and explore the meaning of facts.

Hint: if your source has an agenda, don't use it; it turns out to be nothing more than confirmation bias.

Anyway, regarding abstinence...

... just found this from Masbury titled: Religious school grads likelier to have abortions

Unwed pregnant teens and 20-somethings who attend or have graduated from private religious schools are more likely to obtain abortions than their peers from public schools, according to research in the June issue of the Journal of Health and Social Behavior.

Despite Adamczyk's finding that rates of reported abortions were higher for young women educated at private religious schools, the type of religious school was not a factor: Catholic schools had similar rates as other religious schools.
