BobbyRutan says:
Democratic Rep. Jim Oberstar, meanwhile, has been one of the most vocal critics of Coleman's legal strategy, saying this past week that the former Senator and national GOP
"is playing not just with fire, but with dynamite ... this thing is going to blow up in their face."

Former Republican Sen. Dave Durenberger has said that the party leadership in Washington does not have "Coleman's best interests in mind."

"If Norm had to finance this recount on his own, he never could have gone through it," he said. "Norm couldn't afford to put a nickel into this thing, but John Cornyn could."

It's the Tom Delay plan: gain power by any means necessary.

Whatever...America has gone insane. Franken will fit right in with the others. So sad, but it's called a democracy and you get what you vote for. The lessons are all around us.

Does that mean I think Coleman was an excellent choice...probably not; but gosh! what a comedian to have as a representative. :~(

Why? Because he was in SNL, that makes him ineligible to be in the Senate? What exactly makes Franken not senator material?

You don't want Franken as a senator, find a better candidate and take his seat.

He's a huge idiot with zero political/leadership skills. Kinda' like our President. I don't live in Minnesota so he is not my representative but putting the air-heads together in Congress does not serve America well.

I thought the wrestler was a bad sign, but this man takes the cake.

Really? Where do you get that, on both of them? You got any proof of that, other than Obama can speak in full sentences and Franken took O'Reilly a few pegs down?

You know I hear a lot about Obama being an idiot from the Right, but I see no proof of that. Just because the last guy was an idiot doesn't mean that Obama is or for that matter Al Franken.

My brother lived in Minnesota. My brother holds a Ph.D. in Plant Pathology and has had research published internationally. He says Norm Coleman is a dumbass.

Al Franken graduated cum laude in1973 from Harvard with a Political Science degree.

But jatfla, you are welcome, as are all the other conservatives, to voice your opinion on my clips, regardless of how utterly misinformed you may be.

Let's see what an arch-conservative, popular on news and talk shows, has to say about Al Franken:

In a July 2008 interview with CNN, Franken was endorsed by noted conservative speechwriter, lawyer, author, and entertainer Ben Stein. Stein said of Franken, "He is my pal, and he is a really, really capable smart guy. I don't agree with all of his positions, but he is a very impressive guy, and I think he should be in the Senate."

One thing the obstruction to Franken getting his Senate seat makes clear is how the battle for power didn't end with the substantial Obama landslide victory in the last elections, 2008.

It's an ongoing battle.

The hostile media coverage of the new President is also part of this: make him (and his wife) look ugly, exaggerate fears, criticize every move, have something negative to say about everything, tarnish every event, diminish every action or policy.

It's unpleasant and in many ways making it unpleasant serves the interests of the status quo, nocon conservatives, warmongers and those who want to continue to rule the country with hate, fear and lies.

Certainly, one clear idea is to d...

Franken won. About a dozen times so far.

When the shoe was on the other foot, in Florida 9 years ago, we sure didn't hear the right telling Gore to get every vote counted. Funny how situational the commitment to democracy is for those folks.

This may be the tightest race in a while, but it's over, Norm. Give it a rest. You are young enough to run again. Not smart enough, but certainly young enough.

How stubborn is Coleman "Graceful loser" is apparently not in his vocabulary. He lost the race. He wanted a recount. He didn't like the recount and now he wants another one. So he still doesn't want to step down, asking all ballots be counted. The were, he's even further behind. He said in a recent story that even if this gets tied up in court until the next Senatorial election, so be it. Meanwhile his state has one less Senator because he's a jackass wanting to further his career to the detriment of his own State. The State he was hired to look after.

Apparently a change in those election laws needs to happen. It's not right that a loser can stop the winner from taking office.

This, and one thing after another, should make it clear that, like in this case, the Republicans don't have a "commitment to democracy." That's just nice sounding words, like the idea/excuse we had to keephearing day after day about "spreading democracy in Iraq."

The idea, too, of "the state he was hired to look after," is often, like in this case, just another bunch of nice-sounding words: Most Senators, I would suspect, don't think their job is to "look after," their state -- they think there job is, #1)Get relected and #2) Use their power to furter their intere...
