Dayna Dickens, Tourism Coordinator for Vulcan, was gracious to take time from her increasingly busy schedule (and media frenzy!) to speak to me.  Their campaign to host the official premiere began in September 2007, as soon as plans for the film were announced.  At one point, Dayna even tried to coordinate with Riverside and Linlithgow, Scotland for simultaneous premieres.  Even though Vulcan has no cinema, Paramount strongly considered it as a contender.  As Dayna put it, “Springfield, Vermont won ‘The Simpsons’ premiere and screened it in their high school gym.  So why not us?”  Leonard Nimoy “phoned hone” and added his support.
