Alexa is a great indicator to watch. Another one is to see what TailRank has been picking up lately in terms of Clipmarks.

Pretty interesting how Clipmarks is getting more recognition now, recognition it deserves.

I wonder how many Clipmarks users have the Alexa toolbar installed (I don't). Isn't that the only traffic Alexa counts?

My spyware tools don't like alexa

Mine either. PC-Cillin continuously blocks it.

hmm...are you saying Alexa would only count if someone visits the site with toolbar installed? That would suck.

Yes, alexa only reports data gathered by their toolbars. Most traffic on alexa is from internet explorer users since they don't have an official firefox extension. However there is one called SearchStatus that shows you the google pagerank next to the alexa pagerank of each page you visit, and I do believe it reports traffic to alexa at the same time.

yeah, i use it. you can get it here... http://www.quirk.biz/searchstatus/

i'm not certain whether it reports the traffic to alexa, but ericw thinks it does, so i installed it.

It definitely does. It's also a great extension to quickly view alexa/google stats on every page you visit. I def. recommend giving it a try.

From http://www.quirk.biz/searchstatus/:
SearchStatus has been tested from Firefox 0.9 to 2.0 as well as Mozilla 1.7.3. Queries made to Google and Alexa are cached to minimise network traffic. Alexa queries made do affect Alexa statistics.

I used the SearchStatus extension for my last job as well. Very useful for researching incoming links.

LOL...we're like an infomercial.

first djkraz comes in at 12:51 and suggests trying something. then, 1 minute later i'm stepping in with a link. out of nowhere, within 4 minutes, ericw's got some additional certainty to offer.

ah, now as i'm about to post this kore7 magically appears with some anectodal information about how great this is. you'd think we were on their payroll or something

Another thing I noticed is Google constantly returning Clips (from here ofcourse) for many queries.

I don't know what SEO techniques you're using, but they're working

Man that was an awesome spike.
I just checked the latest and there has been a significant drop in Nov., I'm thinking possibly due to some of the issues brought about by the influx relfected in the spike. But in the last three months The Clip is up 98%.

Major congrats to the boys at Big Clip!
