:rool: Aaaah Chocolate... Hold me back!! My idea of a perfect death would be to drown in a vat of chocolate. Oy, I love the stuff. Oh, no, dammit Deb, it's now twenty to ten in the evening and there's no chocolate in the house and after reading that article I WANT SOME, AND I WANT SOME NOW!!!!! I think I'll go and mix up some cocoa powder and vanilla ice-cream as compensation. Ice cream? Cocoa powder? I'm on my way over I'm making brownies right now. Mmmm, Mousie, I can smell them from here! I'm busy eating my ice-cream and cocoa powder, with a dash of brandy with some crumbled shortcake biscuits in it as I type.. Oooooh, it's soooo good! I'll mix some for you right now Carrer and if you can't make it in time before it melts, I'll just have to eat it on your behalf. I got a little distracted by the brownies...but I'm paddling as fast as I can. Wait for me! Are you from and in SAR, Michelle? Yes, the province of KwaZulu-Natal, outer west of the city of Durban, near the Valley of a Thousand Hills. Do you know it Lifestar? Only by name. I've been to Joburg a few years ago and i'm especially envying you right now, for i'd gladly trade some of your heat with some fine chocolate i've got here at home. ^_^ It's a deal! (Truth be told, I'd probably trade my grandmother for a bar of chocolate and have no shame in doing so - such is my addiction. May I ask, what part of the frigid world are you shivering in at this present moment? Ask you may, and answered to you shall be! I'm getting my bones frozen (slight exaggeration here) in Normandy, France, an area made at least twice famous by being Joan of Ark death place and for holding the beaches on which the good GI's set foot on to rid Europe (starting with France) of the Nazis @ Lifestar. It's morning and the frogs have stopped frogging and Wiki tells me that you must be located in: "Rouen (pronounced [ʁwɑ̃] in French) is the historical capital city of Normandy, in northwestern France on the River Seine, and currently the capital of the Haute-Normandie (Upper Normandy) région." You lucky, lucky soul. I adore Europe and the Europeans. They are so civilized and cultured; the French in particular. I'd shiver there quite happily sans chocolate too. @ Debs, thanks sweetie, but unfortunately Youtube tells me that video is no longer available. Pox on them. PS/ And Belgium, Swiss, French and even Italian chocolate is unspeakably gorgeous. I've noticed that our chocolate is a lot sweeter but not as sickly sweet as American chocolate. And of course, Lifestar, you have access to hundreds of different types of cheeses and breads. Oy, oy, oy, you lucky thing you! Ah that Wikipedia can't keep secrets lol. Well you had it all, Rouen is the town I live in. The house is a living tribute to Chocolate, we are all genetically addicted to the thing and wouldn't even use Halloween or Easter as excuses, there's ALWAYS some chocolate around. But in my opinion, it's the Swiss who make the best chocolate. Omg the mere thought of it and i'm almost drooling lol. By the way you forgot to mention wine (if you happen to like wine that is), and Champagne; there's a whole region here goes by the name of Champagne... Imagine spending a week there, tasting so many types you loose count. .. Ah I love this country, really, but I hate how cold it can be and technically, i... Sometimes youtube is like that sugar; it works for me now @michelle, keep trying the video. Sometimes YouTube is playing tricks. Well lads, I'm still paddling @ Carrer. Is that a giant shark fin I spot tailing you as your round the Cape of No Hope? We breed them big down there. Do not - I repeat - do not let that Swiss get eaten by the shark. Sacrifice your limbs and life if you must, but do not sink the Swiss. Failure to arrive sans chocolates could get you trampled by elephants, mauled by lions or eaten by cannibals. Debs, Mouse, halleluljah, it works - finally. Thanks Debs - just too 'sweet' for words. @ Lifestar "The house is a living tribute to Chocolate" I've packed my bags, I'm moving in with you. I'll be bringing a year's supply of insulin to counter the sugar highs I'm guaranteed to experience. We shall be singing, sipping wine, eating chocolates and making merry and to heck with the cold weather. Actually Lifestar I backpacked around Europe and existed on bread, cheese, olives and wine. Oh, what a good time I had. I love a good wine but I'm no fundi (Zulu for expert/teacher - pronounced foon-di). However, I love a good red and SA does produce some fine wines - though I suspect no... Hey Mousie, I must just tell you what I'm going to be doing with bacon tomorrow. It's my dad's birthday tomorrow. I've marinated a piece of venison for four days in red wine and spices and I will be stuffing it with prunes that have been steeped in brandy for a week all nicely wrapped up in strips of bacon. Strips of honey-glazed bacon will be wrapped around the roast and ten minutes before taking it out of the oven it will be coated in apricot jam. I hope you're all salivating and drooling. If so, you're all welcome to come to dinner tomorrow night. I hope you're all salivating and drooling.Um, yes I am! I have no words. I wish I could be there. It sounds delicious. Happy birthday to your Dad, from America. Thanks Mousie. Your gratitude tree idea was a roaring success. I sprayed painted white and silver a small dry branch bearing many twigs and mounted it in a beautifully shaped bottle filled with semi-precious stones for colour. I printed out various shaped and colourful leaves and cut them out. Every family member was given a full range of leaves upon which they wrote all the things they loved about my dad; things for which they were grateful to him. Between courses we all took turns reading our leaves and pinning them to the branch. By the end of the meal he had a full-leafed tree. My dad cried. He said it was the best birthday party he had ever had. Fabulous idea Mouse, thank you. Now, what to do next year to top this?l What a wonderful idea for your dad's birthday party! I don't know how you would top it. Oh, Michelle! What a wonderful gift for your Father. I'm thrilled to know my little tree inspired you. Next year you could take family photos and use the messages on the leaves to create text and make a book for your father. You can add some new gratitude too. There are some cheap online places you can have one made. Aww, I think that is just the nicest thing I've heard lately. Thanks for sharing it with me, Michelle. My pleasure and thanks Mousie. Like your idea of an album. Going to see what I can do about it. |
