I am confused, too.
I knew that the indigenous British are palefaces. But I can't validate that there is a pale/rosy border across Germany. According to the map there's no skin colour difference between a Berliner and a Neapolitan...

It makes sense that the lightest skin colors are closest to the two poles, and the darkest skin at the equator. I wouldn't take the shades on the map to be literal or exact. I think the purpose here is to demonstrate the trends.
