masbury says: Donald Kaul on the Minnesota elections: get on with it. Coleman prevents Franken from being seated, after having lost recount after recount. Is Coleman trying to win or is he just trying to influence Senate votes by keeping a Democrat off the floor? What is it about counting that Minnesotans don’t understand? What a question! Where has the author been this last eight years. With the great intellectual Bush in charge, then none of the cult had to do any thinking. Education became a dirty word with teachers nearly in danger of been burnt at the stake. Clearly, George could not count his own fingers. He lost 1,000s of WMD and good Americans looking for them. He was incapable of giving the dead the time of day to attend their funerals, yet insisted to the end that the WMDs would be found to justify his incompetence. He lost track of the number of times he waterboarded the same prisoner, yet America is still now count[b]... This is a ridiculous waste of time and resources. I can understand one appeal but someone needs to take control of this situation and bring some sanity back into it. This whole circus is doing nothing 'for' the country and 'everything' for the republicans. Once again America is the real loser. If you cherry-pick articles, then you might think Norm Coleman is stonewalling. If you really ant the truth...dig a bit more. Oh, and BTW, Masbury using your rationale for winners/losers, Franken should have lost graciously after the first vote count. This whole thing is amusing anyway because you could make the argument that Franken is the Coulter of the Democrat party...except for the fact that Coulter is actually successful at what she does while Franken has had failure upon failure. You know hits such as Air America, "Rush Limbaugh is a Big Fat Idiot", etc. Can you imagine the uproar if Ann Coulter were even nominated to run for a Senate seat...the left would be apoplectic. That's t... "I'm Good Enough, I'm Smart Enough, and Doggone It, People Like Me!"...the mantra of the secular progresssive movement...how pathetic. Define success? You mean astroturfing your book sales and then giving away the books in right-wing websites is a success? Or having your boss's company go under for the exact amount they are paying you in an exorbitant contract? using your rationale for winners/losers, Franken should have lost graciously after the first vote count.Hardly. I'm not at all opposed to taking the time that's necessary, but by now we're talking about decision after decision after decision that has gone against Coleman. Surely you can see that there is a difference between this situation and taking the first quick conclusion. Regarding Coulter and Franken, also, there are many differences. - Coulter does not bill herself as a comedian, but as a legitimate political commentator. Franken was a comedian. For Coulter to be a nut betrays her credibility; it was Franken's job. - Franken did not run as a comedian, nor bring his former role into the campaign. He ran a legitimate, respectable campaign, and displaced an incumbent. You're talking about what Franken used to do vs. what Coulter still does. Since she views herself as a legitimate commentator, I see no reason she would change to fit the office in the same way that Franken has. You won't have a satirist in office when Franken finally gets there. The difference between Franken and Coulter is that Franken has walked the walk; justifying him to talk the talk. Coulter has no justification for her spewing of right-wing groupthink. She'd never done anything that didn't pay her an obnoxious amount of money; never did anything just for the good of her fellow man. Franken has. |
