Kore7 says: The Bush doctrine of creating democracy in the Middle East with bombs will go down in history as the cruelest and craziest ever. A war on terror, as Bush calls everything he doesn’t agree with, cannot be won by a democratically elected government acting like a terrorist organization. Killing civilians, especially children, is wrong. Liberal BS, under the flag of a magazine with 'conservative' in it, from a guy who says he doesn't believe in labels... same old... Taki and the American Conservative are some of the most pre-eminent conservative institutions out there. Please point out the "liberal" parts of his argument. (Actually, were you calling the Democratic platform or Classical Liberalism bullshit? It's hard to tell.) Taki has a public e-mail address...I'm sure he would be quite surprised and keen to hear your insights, RS. It might behoove you to define some of the basic tenets of Conservatism along the way, to compare and contrast with. Since you instructed me to read the content, let me ask you - did you read the About page of the magazine? Did you see they claim and do offer various, not just conservative views? Read some other stuff by Taki... one can clearly see his approach to things... regardless fo the fact that he ones wanted to volunteer to fight the arabs in Israeli army. He spoke to 1 guy who told him some story and he makes a 180? Give me a break. And if he was an example of conservatism - well, we wouldn't have any conservatives To someone who equates Conservatism with fideism to the Bush administration, this all might be a little confusing to you. Believe it or not, as the oldest extant party in America, Conservatism existed long before George W. Bush was born. Rather, it has been shaped by some of the smartest political, philosophical, and economic intellectuals in Western history. An overview of the history of Conservatism might help you get started on learning what it's all about. Why are you even bringing Bush up? He has nothing to do with my conservatism. You make it sound like I became conservative when he gained power. I was conservative back in the old country, just didn't know what it was called then. One could make the same comment about liberalism. It ain't what it used to be. Current version of liberalism is far different from liberalism of the past, yet that's what they call it. You maybe confused there... or maybe you're not. |
