merrie says: US public reaction has been mixed: many have asked how an unemployed single mother can raise 14 children, as her first six have already strained the family budget. Angela and Ed Suleman, Nadya’s parents, bought her a two-bedroom bungalow in the suburb of Whittier in March 2007, but soon after got into debt and had to leave their own home. They filed for bankruptcy and moved in with their daughter and grandchildren. Last week her father said he would return to his native Iraq to work as a translator and driver. Angela Suleman, who is caring for the first six children — one of whom is autistic — while her daughter is in hospital, said yesterday that she had consulted a psychologist over Nadya’s “obsession with children”. Nadya Suleman, who describes herself as a “professional student” living off education grants and parental money, broke up with her boyfriend before the birth of her first child seven years ago. The identity of the octuplets’ father remains unknown, but local reports suggest they were conceived with frozen sperm donated by a friend she met while working at a fertility clinic. He is the father of her twins, born two years ago. Michael Tucker of the Georgia Reproductive Clinic, Atlanta, said Suleman’s story stunned him. “We are policed by the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, which frowns upon implanting more than two or three embryos at a time. It is remarkable that any practitioner would undertake such a practice.” The babies, born nine weeks prematurely by C-section, were attended to by 46 medical staff, who expected seven babies. When the eighth — a boy — appeared, doc... Child care expert? She is MAD. @merrie - I think she is just a self-serving Bitch that is looking for attention and a free ride off the system or anybody that will give it to her. I think she will eventually be caught up with and the networks will see through her. The networks may play along with her for a while to give her enough rope to really make a fool out of herself. It would also give the networks ratings by their playing along with her for while. You know how that goes. Ratings = $$$$ This women definitely has issues that she needs to address. I really feel bad for the kids. Eventually they are going to be the victims and suffer the most from this whole ordeal. Her Mother said when she comes home to live that she, the Mother is leaving. The woman definitely has mental issues, and she's been victimizing her entire family. But, OTOH they have been enabling her to a large degree. The Calee Anthony case sorta' exemplifies the trouble that families can create by not setting standards & personal boundaries with kids during their childhood. If, on the incredibly long-shot odds, Casey Anthony is "not guilty"of premeditated or accidental murder, she's at the very least guilty of child abuse and neglect. Nadya Suleman is a train-wreck that seeks to turn her self-inflicted tragedy into a money-making venture. @merrie - I've followed the Calee Anthony case from the beginning and it is certainly bizarre, that is to say the least. I think the whole country fell in love with Calee including myself. I have a tendency to agree with you about parents being and contributing to enabling. I believe there is a line that is crossed along the way where enabling is detrimental to the individuals benefit and allows them to develop personality disorders such as malignant narcissist and the like which eventually ends up with problems such as we have in both these cases. They end up being control freaks and go through life thinking only of themselves and acheaving what they want thorough any means they want. My h... |
