I was afraid for Obama's lif almost 2 years ago, back when he began...I knew too many wingnut racists when I lived with my Mom in Texas for awhile in the '90's. They're still there and they still have their guns.

I noticed during a televised rally that the Secret Service had erected what looked to be 12 foot anti-sniper screens. They were almost invisible - damned impressive - but at some angles you could easily make them out.

It reassures me somewhat.

No, I must have missed that bit. But had I noticed it, would have assumed it was on air-superiority and counter-sniper patrol.

There was a thread recently on Ask Metafilter about the security arrangements for (man, I love saying this) President-Elect Obama. Let's see... here it is: Why were the plexiglass walls on stage at Grant Park?
