First, we hear from the NY Times, via Book of Joe, that <A href="http://www.bookofjoe.com/2006/11/just_like_music.html">the French are debating</A> whether videogames deserve government support (read: tax breaks) as an art form, just as movies and the visual arts get. Seems to me that the French culture minister makes a pretty good case for easing up in support of creativity, and support for creativity and the arts <EM>is</EM> one of France's most endearing aspects. Of course, France also digs Jerry Lewis, and if you look at Spike TV's nominations for the <A href="http://www.spiketv.com/%23events/vga2006/index.jhtml">2006 Video Game Awards</A>, you're reminded that this is still a medium that considers Vida Guerra a potential award winner.
