Those last two sentences are a remarkably brilliant example of how to take a quotation out of context and completely change its meaning.

Little Green Footballs version:
"We're not pretending to appropriately honor those who have died," said organizer Bill Betzen.
Original version:
"We're not pretending to appropriately honor those who have died," said organizer Bill Betzen. "It's just impossible."
Say whatever you want about antiwar demonstrators, but my God, the AFSC does not disrespect the memory of the dead.

Obviously, otherwise we might see them marching in response to traffic deaths. The disrespect is for the manner of death and the purposes associated with the cause.

Okay, since you have recently complained that being asked for clarification "takes the fun out" of the clipping experience, let me just say that this remark is nonsensical and meaningless. (Otherwise I'd ask what you meant.) Like it or not, Quakers have been pacifists since the seventeenth century and have opposed every war and the associated violence.

Always a good thing when the number of dead terrorists is greater than the number of their victims.
--Godfrey Daniel, who will surely never be mistaken for a peace ghoul, on reports that Israeli security forces killed 660 Palestinians in 2006.

Well, Enbar, when you isolate the Quakers from the 1300 peace groups involved you have a point appropriate to their long standing positions. They've always been ridiculous. My response was to the aggregate.

I have no objection to being asked for specific clarification when genuinely misunderstood.

Thanks for reposting that comment, JK

Sorry, but coming to the defense of the Religious Society of Friends is sort of in my nature. Ridiculous they may be -- the Gospel is a stumbling block to the Greeks, and folly to the Jews, as they say -- but ghoulish they are not.

Err, sorry, got my stumbling block and folly mixed up ... i meant it to be the other way around.

Peace Ghouls? Only O'Reilly could think in such a twisted way. I am no pacifist, because I am not that brave.
