Mars is at Right Ascension 6h 12m and Declination 26.8 degrees. Tonight its magnitude is -1.6 and it is about .594 Astronomical Units from the earth (earth is 1 AU from the sun) In Toronto it rose at 4:18 pm and will set at 8:13am EST
You should be able to find it a little above the moon. It will have a slight redish tinge.
The last time I saw it this bright I was in Egypt and I was visiting the temple at Luxor. Go to my website to see the photo.

Busted out a telescope tonight to check out the moon and mars. Definitely had Mars in my sights. Awesome!
