Socratoad says: Guess I better start throwing a steak or two on the barby as there is a lot of wood to split Oh goody! I don't have to give up my steak! Interesting that the study indicated increased protein intake may have helped people preserve muscle mass. However fish protein and egg protein did not seem to do the same. Salmon, cod, and beef have about the same level of protein per serving. You would have to eat multiple eggs to achieve the same level as beef but it can be done. 3 eggs equals 1 serving of beef. Very interesting. Many body builders have the appearance of large muscle mass from ingesting massive quantitities of Whey Protein. However, because meat protein, especially high quality meat (venison, beef, buffalo) contains all of the essential amino acids, the "building blocks" of protein, in correct proportions, it is this that is most desirable for optimum growth of lean, calorie burning tissue. I spent 1 year in the Army stockade at hard labor, often for 16 to 20 hour days, breaking rocks, digging 5-foot telephone-line trenches, leveling hills with pick and shovel, unloading 120 pound bags of cement from RR freight cars, carrying them into a warehouse, stacking them in 20 foot high stacks, being double-... Very interesting, and food for thought ... Thank you Steve |
