skwirlinator says: A Clip to explore what the users feel ClipMarks should be doing, for, have or need I'm looking for a place to store only the parts of a webpage that I'm interested in. I want a way to keep my bookmarks that shows me why I wanted to keep it in the first place. I want to be able to email only the parts of my bookmarks that pertain to certain subjects. I want to share what I find interesting on the web with others. I want to discuss what I find with other people to get their opinions. I want to be able to find those clips easily. I want to Learn new things. I want to know whats going on in the world/ I want to find new places on the www. I want to see new ways of looking at things. I want to be informed. I want tips, tricks and how to's. I want someone to listen to me about what I want. I want others to share with me. I want to be shaown new things about the world. I want to raise the average comprehension rate of my wise ass remarks by at least two percentage points, up from 3.06% To me clipmarks is: -a place to discover 'stuff' that interests me, makes me laugh or shocks me -an online shareable central repository for all things you find and want to keep and/or share -a tool which could prove quite handy in researching -a place where you're not only allowed, but encouraged to express and share your opinion and worldview. I also expect clipmarks to revolutionize and organize the chaotic world wide web; abolish the prehistoric notion of 'bookmarks', and take over google. and also I expect it to be: -free & without ads Not really an expectation of what I expect from Clipmarks, but an on-going hope is that there will be a broadening of diversity of interests as new people joiin in. Unfortunately I think there is a tendency when checking The Clip for the first time to scan the visable clips to see if they're of interest; to "size up the membership" so to speak, rather than thinking, [i]Hmmm, what can I do with this. I'm looking for a place to store only the parts of a webpage that I'm interested in. I want a way to keep my bookmarks that shows me why I wanted to keep it in the first place. I want to share what I find interesting on the web with others. I want to discuss what I find with other people to get their opinions. I want to be able to find those clips easily. I want the information to stay available and be there when I need it. I want other people to know what I'm interested in. I want to Learn new things. I want to know whats going on in the world ....I want alot. :o) this is so awesome to know!! maybe we can think of a way to use "what people want from clipmarks" as a way to explain to newcomers what they can expect from clipmarks. I was kinda thinking that and a way for you to keep up with what people are expecting. It may help you guys gauge the clipmunity expectations when looking for updating ideas. always try to skwirl. just also very difficult to satisfy everyone's requests at the same time. as you know, we're just 4 people right now with pretty limited resources. but we're always very interested in and affected by what the community wants. Knowledge is half the battle! On the "Your Clipmark has been saved" response window after creating a clip. I would like it to show me how many clips I have clipped. A Google translate link so I can click the Translate button beside the source and it will take me to the translated page. Interwiki functionality - Interwiki explanation on Wikipedia - Users avoid pasting in entire URLs (as they would for regular web pages) and instead use a shorthand similar to links within the same wiki. and the ability to edit your own comments I really really would like to be able to edit my comments. If I was able to edit comments, I would be able to delete this one because it would be redundant. pwright8 said:Exactly!! I understand that you don't want people just changing their comments etc, all the time, but at least let us correct mistakes and show that it was corrected. Wouldn't that work? Everytime you post a comment you have the choice to Preview it. Yeah, but you know how it is. You get rushed and you just type and then click post comment and, BAM! , you have a typing error or the wrong word, etc. Of course I think I would like 'interwiki' functionality before 'edit comment' functionality. Two problems with Preview. First, when you click it you're saying, I predict that I have done something stupid. Not appealing. Second, in Preview the brain is still essentially in Compose mode, and as we all know, those things which become visible in Read mode, are still invisible in Compose mode. Godfrey said:True. True. I'm going to be using it on the kids this school year- THANK YOU! |
