A normal opening season stretches from the middle of May to October, but may sometimes be shorter or longer due to changes in the weather conditions, or unexpected trolls of course. In the summer of 2005 the road was repaired and about 16 million NOK was spent on protection against rockfall, making the road a lot safer to drive on....that is unless you aren't watching closely......for the trolls.....bwahahahahahaha...... That's a pretty view from the mountains, but that road is too crazy for me. We took the mule train ride down the side of Kalaupapa to Father Damien's Church on Molokai and that was an experience of a lifetime! ..... Molokai by mule: Kalaupapa home of Father Damien, canonized a saint by the Vatican Wouldn't you rather be riding a mule on Molokai? Why would I want to go for a mule ride when I could be sipping mai tais on the beach? More importantly, the idea of riding a mule down a 1,700-foot cliff was totally terrifying. [i]But here I was at the mule barn mingling with nine other rookie riders in the cool Molokai uplands, preparing to descend some of the highest sea ... Where's Lexica and her bike?
