Antara says: I only learned about this "school of thought" recently A couple of years back, or so, I used the the word "fideistic" to explain much of the modern approach by Muslims to the Islamic faith. Boy, did I catch Hell for that from all the bright clippers! Though, I think none of them actually knew what it meant. I do love learning new things. Thanks Antara. Alan: Oh hell no , lol....I am not a bit mad. Well, not that kinda mad anyways And me too bignosemousie....you all are constantly teaching me new things! Darn, brights. ,fideism holds that reason is unnecessary and inappropriate for the exercise and justification of religious belief.Being a very devout agnostic I believe that tis a fool's errand to try to intellectualize the existence or non-existence of gods/goddesses, or "the God". And following on from fideism I would go a step farther and say that tis positively a hinderance to try to apply reason to any discussion regarding religion. Oh yes, lest I forget: thank you for the clip Antara.. Very interesting |
