sahara says: Very informative site. I was surprised not to see Israel at the top in US aid, I read a statistic that 1/3 of all US aid goes there. The foreign aid bill includes $2.34 billion military aid for Israel and $120 million civilian aid. (Civilian aid will end in 2009) So, per person, being a population of only 5.8 million, the US gives approximately $32,520 per person, per year (according to site)...and we thought that $3000 tax break was nice! China was another that mystified me, we OWE China, how can we give "aid" to a country we owe? Pretty soon, we will be the ones in need of foreign aid. Yes, that statistic on China was quite a shock! tyvm; excellent info |
