You are not looking at the bigger picture.

I believe it to be a political bluff.

If Iran agree to back down then the French are the Hero's of the hour and it throws America's plans out of kilter.

If Iran refuses the French will demur, say they tried and America will invade.

Either way they will come out smelling of roses.

For if Iran backs down that will please the Arab countries France have dealings with, if they refuse and America invades France increase their arms sales.

Take off your blinkers please and look at the bigger picture.

With Germany and other European nations refusing to place sanctions on Iran, America is being manoeuvred into a war it cannot win.

I disagree, Germany will never agree.

Maggie Merkel dislikes the Bush administration and the business interests in the region would be endangered.

Europe is more interested in keeping cordial relations with Russia, who supplies the majority of it's gas.

Russia sees Iran as being within it's sphere of influence and does not want any trouble in it's back yard.

Besides the majority of Europeans do not want another war in the middle east.
