So how do all those native tribes in the Amazons and Africa handle their women running around naked, with breasts hanging all over the place???

Could it be they are actually more civilized than religious nuts?

Novel idea, Cakebelly! But they would continue to blame women for providing the provocation. After all, men are incapable of controlling themselves - hence the need for the modesty police.

Listen,
Women are beautiful creatures. I personally do not see what is threatening about a woman dressing in such a way that pleases her, or feeling good about herself and dressing to express that. Of course this instance is all about control of women by men isn't it? But it can be much more subtle than that and even other women can be offenders. I was visiting my husband's Aunt's and she had a pool (I was probably about 24 years old at the time). We were all swimming and a neighbor girl came over to swim. She was about 18 years old and she had a white bathing suit. She was a pretty young woman and she looked nice in it. Oh faux pas never wear white to swim in but she was young, yo...

Indeed, travel among a few cultures and you find that it's pushing the limits that's regarded as sexy, not where the limits are located.
And are men really so puny as to only be capable of morality if others around them behave in certain ways?
Walk into any legalistic fundamentalist church, and you'll notice the men can dress in a way that is common anywhere. The women, however, are required to live as aberrations.
Legalism runs with authoritarianism, and authoritarianism is usually male-dominated.
Jesus, by contrast, regarded power as a temptation, not an acceptable way of life.

Interesting, too, how many stories have to do with women touching Jesus, and how the ultra-conservatives of his day were convinced he was a fraud because of it.
