benjaminoaks says: When will the Catholic Church own up to supporting Hitler? Never benjamin. They are of the order of 'admit no evil'. Just think how much treasure and gold they would have to return if they did- and that will never happen. I have no clue what should be done about this. I have known of RATzinger for some time and somehow was not surprised that in this world climate of fear and fascism that he was appointed Pope. So are we to hold childhood mistakes against all of humanity? Shouldn't there be some measure of forgiveness for those who did something they may regret? I am a reformed Christian. I love and respect my Christian Brothers. However, the Catholic Church has a big problem admitting mistakes. BBW, my family was horribly altered by WW2, but I totally agree with your sentiments on the subject. Sage... don't get me wrong, I am all for paying dues when someone does something wrong. However, taking you life and turning it around should be cause for some leniancy considering how many people do not reform even after prison. He didn't revisit his "Hitler Youth", guys, he visited the KZ in Ausschwitz. And nobody here in germany supports Hitler (okay, some of the really weird guys do). He's dead as a doormat and thats good. Hell yeah. I spit on his grave. Sometimes I really don't get your (american) way of thinking about the Nazis... You must be kidding to call the pope a Nazi, just because he was a member of HJ. As I said before in another clip: I am not catholic, but this pope is NOT a Nazi, people. He had to become a member of the HJ when he was a child. We had a totalitarian dictatorship in germany during that time guys, which means that you couldnt simply say "No" to becoming a member of the party or the HJ.... |
