From everything I've heard so far (mostly from scoble's Qik videos from Davos and this post, but also a few other rumbings), Facebook is working hard to make the App platform less spammy, and to enable developers to build deeper, more powerful apps which really extend Facebook's functionality.

If they really go the "google androiod" route with this, and allow developers to build apps which users can swap out (think superwall, but actually in place of the stock "wall" app) this could shape up to be a great year for FB.

It's also good to hear Robert echo some of the things that I felt when meeting Mark - he's an extremely humble, shy, interesting person, who's genuinely geeking out about this stuff at work every day. With someone that passionate about the future of the net and what they're building at FB, I'm pretty confident that good things are yet to come.

I heard on a national TV "morning Show" this morning that Facebook was only for the young. The host was questioning a woman (who was in her 40's) why she had a Facebook account. The host said that Facebook was only for the young (the woman's 20-something daughter had an account) ... and apparently this meant the 40-something woman was not considered young enough to have a Facebook account.

I would love to know what Mr. Zuckerberg thinks about this. Is Facebook and it's new and emerging technology only for the 20 to 30 year old age group? Or, is it for everyone?

This "old woman" keeps up with the web and what's new as well as any one of my children or grandchildren ... sometimes even bet...

I consider my Aunt Barbara (herself a grandmother) to be one of the best users of Facebook. She joined to play Scrabulous, and has since invited her whole family and is in constant contact with all of them through it.

The web has no age limit - I know Second Lifers older than my father and Twitter is like the great age equalizer, conversation is constantly flowing between everyone from teenagers to septuagenarians.
